The project started when our client approached us to design an off-grid home for his property on the East Cape road to famous surf breaks.
The location and the views are as good as it gets for a remote site—just far enough to feel wild, yet now reachable by a newly paved road that, just three years ago, was still the classic Baja desert dirt road.
Building in such an isolated area came with unique challenges: long distances, lack of infrastructure, and the need to find the right materials and sustainable systems to construct and operate the house responsibly.
These constraints ultimately shaped the project into what it is a resilient, self-sufficient home, designed in harmony with its land
