Casa Ballena is an art center that seeks to offer the most unique artist-in-residence experience in Los Cabos to Mexican and international artists. Finished in December 2019, Casa Ballena represents RIMA’s most prestigious design- and-build project to date, from interior design to exterior landscape design; a demonstration of what our team can do. The 7 rammed earth buildings, facing Puerto Los Cabos marina and ocean, emerge from the site’s natural topography and soil, creating organic interior and exterior spaces for artists to explore and use. The construction method is rammed earth, which was chosen by Gerry Rivero as an aesthetic and passive design material that represented the site and the artisanal process of the art created in the center.
