Gerry Rivero

Principal architect / FOUNDER

Gerry earned his bachelor’s degree in architectural studies from Mexico City’s Iberoamericana University and his master’s degree from UCLA’s Architecture and Urban Design program. His association with Mark Mack at UCLA developed into working as a member of the design team at Mark Mack Architects. Gerry’s twenty years of experience, earned from a variety of architecture projects in the United States, Mexico, Egypt, China and elsewhere, includes residential, hospitality, public libraries, and private development. His work with designers, architects, builders, educators, and municipal authorities has built an international network of professionals in architecture, design, and development.

 
 
 
 
 

Maritere Rivero

DESIGN DIRECTOR

Originally form Morelos, Mexico, Maritere holds a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from Universidad Autónoma de Mexico - UNAM, which she obtained with honors in 2015, complementing her education at l’École Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture de Paris La Villette, France.

She began her profesional career working at Taller de Arquitectura Mauricio Rocha + Gabriela Carrillo where she collaborated in public projects such as the Library for the Blind and Visually Impaired, as well as several residential projects. Later on, she joined Miguel Montor's firm developing mostly educational and residential projects. During her 2-year collaboration at this firm she was promoted to Design Manager.  

In 2015 she moved to Los Cabos to collaborate with RIMA in the Casa Ballena project. Maritere is currently Design Manager of our team, where she leads residential and cultural projects focusing in both architecture and interior design.

The 2009 launch of RIMA marked the emergence of one of Los Cabos’ premier independent architecture, design, and project management firms. RIMA represents the latest development in the career of its founder, Gerry Rivero. Born in Mexico City and educated bicultural in Mexico and the United States, Gerry has honed his design practice and philosophy through educational experience, in-practice training, and on-site project development.

In 2011, RIMA’s international experience in high-end resort design grew with the commission of their first spa design project in Guangzhou, China.

In 2018 the Cultural Center Casa Ballena became one of the biggest cultural projects in Los Cabos. RIMA proposed the challenge to design build the entire project with Rammed Earth construction technology. 

By 2020, RIMA has completed 4 projects in the prestigious development of Chileno Bay Golf and Beach Club. One of the highlight projects is Casa Cielito, a historical landmark residence that is undergoing a complete intervention by RIMA, soon to be launched by January 2021. 

Currently, RIMA is designing and building custom residences and designing top boutique hotels, delivering complete turn key projects by providing In-house Interior Design and Landscape services.
